  • Understanding Vaccines

Why we shouldn’t vaccinate our dogs.

It is entirely possible for our pets to live a healthy life without ever getting a single vaccine. Historical data shows most epidemic diseases were already declining before vaccines began, and many books document this fact.

Vaccination has no scientific merit and causes untold damage to animals in the form of chronic disease of all varieties. Homeopathy refers to this as vaccinosis or the chronic disease state resulting from vaccination.

The well-known Purdue Study found that dogs develop autoimmunity to most key proteins in their bodies after a single vaccine, including their own DNA. This explains why most chronic diseases of dogs are believed to have an autoimmune basis. Because of this fact, many chronic problems due to vaccinosis will not respond to any treatment unless we address this condition first.

The chronic diseases have many names, including arthritis, hypo- or hyperthyroidism, allergies, asthma, inflammatory bowel disease, repeated ear infections, skin disease, heart disease, diabetes, kidney failure, and the current #1 killer of dogs over 6 years of age: cancer.

If this sounds familiar to you, your pet is most likely suffering the side effects from vaccinations - even a single shot can start the process.

Our pets do not need vaccines to be protected from illness, all they need is a healthy immune system. It is our job to help support this immune system and allow it to do what it was meant to do. The immune system is powerful enough to heal from any virus, pathogen, parasite or chemical if it is given the support it needs and is not crippled by vaccines and chemical treatments.
There are a few key elements we NEED to address, in order to give our pets their best chance at a disease free life.

Nutrition
Homeopathic Treatments
No Chemicals (Household cleaning products, lawn chemicals, air fresheners, parasitic prevention)
Exercise and fresh air

Parvo and Distemper

A lecture on Parvo by Dr. Todd Cooney shows statistics from his homeopathic practice in Indiana that vaccinated puppies had less chance of surviving parvo than those not vaccinated for that disease. He concluded that:

The Parvo vaccine was immune suppressive

Parvovirus was ubiquitous in the environment

Animals treated homoeopathically when sick with parvo had far better survival rates than those treated with conventional medicine
Distemper was prevented by taking puppies to a known wildlife area where racoons with distemper lived.
Dr. Rosemary Manziano learned of the outbreak of canine distemper in racoons in her area through the CDC. She boldly suggested to her puppy owners over a period of 11 years that they visit a pond known to be a hangout for these raccoons. After a brief period of sniffing around the bushes and maybe drinking the water, the pups were brought home.

This was repeated a week later, and on the third week, the good doctor would test for distemper titers, the evidence of immune response. Lo and behold, these pups had fantastic titers indicating strong immunity! And, in case you’re wondering, not one puppy ever got sick in the least. This happened in well over a hundred pups and was, as Dr. Manziano called it, “fool proof immunization.”

After eleven years, it stopped working. She assumed that the disease in raccoons had run its course, natural resistance having been gained by their population. What to do now?

Dr. Manziano suggested that her new pup owners who wanted natural immunization take short, five minute visits to the most popular dog parks. Those parks with the highest dog traffic were recommended.

The procedure was simple:

Open car door

Let pup out on the ground in the busiest part of the park

Time five minutes

Load up and go home.

Wait until the puppy is 12 weeks of age. The puppy should have 3 weeks of exposure, once a week and titer on the 4th week.

Once again, after a couple of exposures like this, titers were drawn and were found high against both distemper and parvo. Immunization had taken place. How many got symptoms of either disease? None. Not one pup ever fell ill in years of doing this.

How to support our puppies

To support your puppy during the most critical weeks of development we can make use of homeopathic preventatives, nosodes.

Homeoprophylaxis involves using homeopathic remedies or specific types of remedies called nosodes (Greek nosos = disease).

Nosodes are homeopathic medicines made from diseased animal tissues or discharges and can help with immunity.

Nosodes are given on a set schedule. This schedule as well as the potency will vary by the particular prescription. They work as a preventative so that your puppy is protected from disease in the short term - while building natural immunity by gentle limited exposure.

For a very insightful view into how Nosodes work, have a look at the podcast from Will Falconer, DVM from Vital animal - https://vitalanimal.com/22-don-hamilton-do-nosodes-really-work/

Titer Testing

Titer tests are blood tests that measure the level of antibodies your animal has made to fight a certain disease. The lab report comes back with numbers indicating the amount of antibodies your animal made against those diseases tested.

Some diseases have been studied enough that scientists claim to know what level of antibody protects against that disease, so this level is called a “protective titer.” The problem with this approach is that low titers do not equate with lack of protection, especially if measured several years after the last 💉. It simply means your pets immune system was not recently challenged by the disease. It’s a waste to keep making more antibodies when there’s no exposure to more virus. In fact, a low titer is a good indication that your dog is healthy and not currently fighting anything.

The evidence is strong that immunity persists for years or for life from 💉 given early in life, and the risk of chronic illness is significantly increased with vaccine repetition.

The body does not only use antibodies to protect against disease. The memory cells are worth a special mention. Originating from B-cells, these hold a memory of a previously encountered germ, like distemper, for instance.
Whether they encountered this virus by natural exposure or by vaccination, memory cells are long-lived and have a specific memory about those foreigners they have encountered.
If, years after the animal has been exposed to distemper virus, there is another exposure to it, these memory cells rapidly turn into plasma cells and secrete antibodies against the recognized virus.
And these antibodies are once again measurable as a “rising titer.”
Even if the titer result is low, your pup is still protected from those memory cells and a “booster” would not boost immunity, on the contrary, and it would simply challenge the immune response and force it to make more antibodies.

This doesn’t mean a titer is a complete waste of money. If you have a young pup (over 16 weeks) who you have been gently exposing to the environment, it would be a good idea to see if your pup has gained some natural immunity from Parvo and Distemper. Even with a low titer result, your pup would be protected.

The truth about rabies.

Rabies is one of the oldest known diseases, dating back at least 4,000 years to ancient Mesopotamia. Early civilizations recognized how deadly it was and imposed harsh penalties for letting rabid dogs roam free. The virus itself even gets its name from Sanskrit—"rabhas" meaning to do violence, and the Greek "lyssa", meaning madness or frenzy.

But here’s the thing—before vaccines even existed, people managed rabies with observation and quarantine.

Ancient societies had strict rules:

If a dog acted strangely, it was restrained.

If it bit someone, the dog was isolated and observed.

If symptoms worsened, the dog was euthanized—but if it remained healthy, the risk was gone.

Fast forward to today, and we still use quarantine as a method of control. Yet, instead of relying on careful observation, rabies vaccination laws now enforce repeated vaccinations, even when the risk is non-existent.

So, What Changed?

The fear of rabies has remained, but modern policies have shifted from disease control to mass vaccination programs—driven by profits rather than science.

Did you know?

Most rabies cases worldwide occur in developing countries with little access to wound care and post-exposure treatments.

In many Western nations, rabies in domestic pets was nearly eradicated before mandatory vaccine laws were enforced.

Over-vaccination has led to serious side effects in pets, which many owners never connect back to the shot.

Where Does This Leave Us Today?

Rabies isn’t the massive threat it’s made out to be in most developed areas. But because of strict vaccine laws, many pet owners feel forced to comply—even when their pets already have immunity.

Did you know that mandatory rabies vaccinations for pets are often based on "colorable law"—laws that appear legitimate but may not actually be backed by real necessity?

Historically, in many areas, rabies cases in domestic pets were already at zero before laws mandated annual shots. Yet, these laws remain in place, not because of an actual public health risk, but because vets, vaccine companies, and local governments profit from them.

Here’s how:

Vets make huge profits—A single rabies vaccine costs them $1-$2 per dose, but they charge $15-$25 or more per shot.

Local governments rake in fees—Licensing, fines, and penalties tied to rabies vaccinations generate steady income.

Vaccine manufacturers benefit—More mandatory shots mean ongoing profits, even when they aren’t needed.

What’s worse? In some areas, even when no rabies cases exist, the law still demands that every pet be vaccinated. In Florida’s Pinellas County, for example, there were zero cases of dog rabies from 1964 to 1978—yet in 1978, annual rabies shots became mandatory. Why? Because a small group of vets and government officials lobbied for it, despite having zero evidence of risk.

The big question: Shouldn’t rabies vaccination be based on actual disease risk, rather than outdated, profit-driven policies?

Most pet owners assume rabies shots are necessary every one to three years to keep their pets safe. But what if I told you a single rabies vaccination can provide protection for life?

The truth: Studies show that once immunity is established, it lasts for YEARS—possibly even a lifetime.

Keep in mind, our pets don't need a rabies shot PERIOD!!! It's toxic and very dangerous!

So why are pets being revaccinated over and over again?

The Problem With Over-VaccinationVaccines are not harmless. Each additional dose increases the risk of:

N
eurological disorders—including tremors, paralysis, and even seizures.

Chronic inflammation—leading to skin allergies, ear infections, and autoimmune diseases.

Aggressive or anxious behaviour—behavioral changes have been linked to repeated rabies shots.

Increased risk of cancer—especially at the injection site.

One Shot vs. Multiple – What’s The Science?

Rabies vaccines are "meant" to work by stimulating long-term immune memory, which means once your pet has been vaccinated, their body remembers how to fight the virus. Studies "show" that a single rabies shot can last 5-7 years or more!

So why are vets pushing yearly and 3-year boosters?
More visits = more revenue. Many clinics rely on vaccine appointments for steady income.

Fear = compliance. Many owners believe their pets will be at risk without frequent shots.

"Law" doesn't equal science. Rabies vaccine schedules are based on outdated policies, not actual immunity data.

What Can You Do?

Ask for a rabies titer test instead of automatic boosters. This simple blood test checks if your pet still has immunity—most pets do!

If you must vaccinate, due to state laws, insist on the 3-year version—the 1-year and 3-year vaccines are identical (just different labels).

Know your local laws. Some areas allow exemptions for health reasons—so make sure to ALWAYS check your options.

Bottom line: Vaccination doesn't protect pets and definitely over-vaccination puts them at a greater risk. If immunity lasts for life, why keep giving unnecessary shots?

We all want to protect our pets from rabies, but is there a way to do it without overloading them with unnecessary vaccines? The answer: YES! A holistic approach focuses on building natural immunity, minimizing vaccine risks, and making informed choices.

How To Keep Your Pet Protected, Naturally

1️⃣ Build a Strong Immune System 🥩🥦
A pet with a robust immune system is naturally more resistant to disease, including rabies.
✔️ Feed a species-appropriate raw diet—A raw diet provides essential nutrients that support a strong immune system, helping your pet naturally resist disease.
✔️ Avoid processed kibble—ultra-processed foods weaken immune function.
✔️ Support gut health—probiotics and natural supplements strengthen the immune system.

2️⃣ Do NOT Vaccinate or Limit Vaccines & Check Immunity First
Did you know you can check if your pet is already immune to rabies?
✔️ Titer tests measure antibody levels—if your pet has immunity, they do NOT need another shot.
✔️ If vaccination is required, space it out—avoid giving rabies shots with other vaccines.
✔️ Minimize boosters—studies suggest immunity lasts 5-7+ years, possibly for life!

3️⃣ Support Detox After Vaccination 🌿
If your pet must get a rabies shot, help their body recover:
✔️ Homeopathic remedies like Thuja & Lyssin can help reduce vaccine side effects.
✔️ Milk thistle & dandelion root support liver detox.
 ✔️ Omega-3s reduce inflammation.

Why This Matters

Repeated rabies shots are linked to:
⚠️ Neurological issues (seizures, aggression, hind-leg paralysis)
⚠️ Chronic inflammation (allergies, digestive problems, autoimmune disorders)
⚠️ Behavioural changes (fear, anxiety, hyperactivity, aggression)

Holistic pet care isn’t about ignoring disease—it’s about making informed, balanced choices. Rabies prevention doesn’t have to mean over-vaccination.
