BREEDING GOALS
To breed the best dogs possible, we start with our parents. Our dams and sires need to have a solid, well balanced temperament. Each dog is highly socialized while being part of our everyday life. They enjoy visits to schools, nursing homes, stores and parks. They have a healthy diet with lots of exercise for their bodies and minds. To make sure our dogs are healthy enough to breed, each parent is tested first for 215 genetic diseases through Embark. Then their eyes are checked and certified through OFA. Next their hips and patellar are x-rayed to be screened for any abnormalities and certified by OFA and PennHIP. At this time they are also screened for any elbow, heart or thyroid issues. Once these are complete, only then can we move ahead with breeding.

To have a healthy pregnancy, our females can continue their everyday activities with a little extra pampering. This includes daily massages and a few extra calories. It’s important to keep our girls' stress levels low to ensure their puppies stay healthy. Once a litter has arrived we continue to support our mothers as they care for the new puppies.
To raise smart puppies. At three days old Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS) is started. This helps stimulate the puppies nervous system and helps desensitize them to human touch. From three to sixteen days we do Early Scent Introduction (ESI). We hope this helps develop the olfactory nerve. __________ To raise well balanced puppies. At three weeks we start a curriculum which introduces the puppies to the world in safe situations. We do this daily for short periods of time. The puppies get plenty of rest for their growing bodies and minds. You’ll be able to follow your puppy's progress on Facebook and Instagram. |
HOW IT ALL STARTED
We found Carbon (a standard Irish Doodle) while visiting a friend. Our oldest daughter Caitlin decided he needed to come home with her. Caitlin dediced to name him Carbon because she was a chemistry major.
_______
Initially we had no plans to breed him. As he grew we found him to have an amazing temperment. He was easy to train, he loved people and animals. He was so curious about the world and was ready for any adventure.
_______
We had him health tested to see if he would be healthy enough to breed. Dr Greenfield did all his testing and cleared him to breed. All we had to do now was find him a female and wait for him to grow up.

Next we welcomed Zella into our family. We found her from the same breeder as Carbon. She is a mini Goldendoodle.
_______ We did plan to breed her from the begining and also had her tested for all health issues. She too was cleared by Dr. Greenfield. Her temperment and intellagence is perfect. _______ Because she and Carbon are related we knew they could never be a match for breeding. Zella will have an outside stud for her litters. I have chosen a beautiful male mini Goldendoodle with all his health testing completed. ________ |
We searched for an Irish Doodle to be a match for Carbon. We found Indie close to home in the fall of 2022. She is the fuzzy version of Carbon. As she grew we had a hard time telling the two apart. They have become fast friends.
_______
Indie is health tested and clear of all genetic diseases. She loves learning new tricks and catching frisbee's. Indie is smart, loving and athletic. We have no doubt she will become a wonderful mama.

What you should know about Goldendoodles.
Goldendoodles are energetic, outgoing and human focused. These dogs, if raised and bred well, can make the most amazing, lifelong companions. They come in four sizes, petite, mini, medium and standard. It's my opinion that the mini and medium are the most athletic and fun to own.
When you look at mixed breeds such as these, they may have less consistent traits. The traits expressed are passed down from multiple previous generations. With mixed breeds the previous generations could be pure breed dogs with very consistent traits. In the best situations the parents of two breeds are chosen because they have great health and behavior. The outcome you should get is the best of both breeds. In the case of Poodle and Golden Retriever the breeds are similar in many ways. Poodles are water retrievers with medium drive. They look to their humans for guidance in most tasks. Poodles are playful and have few health problems if they are bred well. Golden Retrievers are also water retrievers and similar in drive and human focus as Poodles. They may seem a little less serious than Poodles and therefore slightly more playful.
Both breeds need to be trained and given lots of mental stimulation. If this is not done your dog may become bored and be destructive. The same is true for Goldendooles. They need lots of exercise as well as brain games and human interaction. This dog may not do well if they are isolated for long periods of time away from other dogs and humans.
So, one of the big reasons people love this breed is because of their looks. Goldendoodles have the sweetest, furry faces. Their coats are sometimes non-shedding and very soft. Because this coat needs grooming it is important to desensitize your puppy early to clippers. Having all parts of their body handled and brushed is a must for future grooming. Most Goldendoodles need to be brushed often and groomed every six weeks. Second and third generation Goldendoodles may not shed at all. Non-Shedding is not a guarantee with this mix.
Goldendoodles are easy to train if done early and often. Of course each dog is an individual but overall Goldendoodles are up for any adventure. So get ready for a dog that will go anywhere and try anything.
